During the 2004 NYS Assembly/Senate Puerto Rican/Hispanic Task Force Conference in Albany, New York; Amelia was invited to a Breakfast by the Conference and hosted by Governor George E. Pataki where she was given a certificate of recognition for her work with HIV/AIDS.
While at the Governor's Executive Mansion in Albany NY, Amelia resided in "The Princess Suite". Occupied at one time by such notable guests which includes: President Harry Truman, President William Howard Taft, Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands, Albert Einstein and many others. In honor of being the first Miss Universe titleholder to visit the Governor's Mansion; Amelia's name will be added to this long list of noteworthy guests.
