Elliot and Kathy were high school sweethearts who married circa 1984 [Pique] when Kathy got pregnant with Maureen [Wanderlust]. Kathy is a nurse who works at a hospital in Queens [Popular]. She takes care of most of the household and child raising duties since Elliot spends so much time working [A Single Life]. She is supportive of Elliot’s work, but doesn’t hesitate to remind him to come home and help out with his family. She’s involved in the lives of her kids, and tends to be more understanding and lenient, where Elliot is stricter. In season 2 or 3, Elliot and Kathy have some tension around the fact that Elliot doesn’t share his work life with Kathy and that may cause some jealousy for Kathy over his ability to confide in Olivia.
Kids:
Maureen Stabler (Erin Broderick), the oldest child born in 1984 [Pique], is a junior at Hudson University in season 6. She is known for having a close relationship with her father, but tends to buck his overprotectiveness at times. She is intelligent, concerned with school, and seems to be a regular kid. Often when there’s a plotline echoed in the Stabler family, Maureen’s the kid on whom the story focuses. In Season 1, she dates a kid named Jimmy Delmonico who is a junior and football player. They attend the prom together. Their relationship and the idea that Maureen has a boyfriend causes a great deal of stress for Elliot [Wanderlust].
Kathleen Stabler (Holiday Segal), the middle child born circa 1987, is a couple years younger than Maureen. She isn’t shown much, but also seems to be a regular teenager. In middle school, she played soccer. She has a reputation for being moody. Her claim to fame is the scene in which Elliot tried to help her with her soccer defense technique and at the same time discuss the issue of teenage sexual activity after one of her 14-year-old friends became pregnant. After much eye-rolling and dirty looks in response to her father’s metaphorical lecture, she laid it on the line and told him that she was still a virgin.
Elizabeth Stabler (Patricia Cooke), also known as Lizzie, one of the youngest and Dickie’s twin. She was born in 1993 [Countdown].
Richard Stabler (Jeffrey Scaperrotta), also knows as Dickie, one of the youngest, and Lizzie’s twin. He was born in 1993 [Countdown].
