'손웅정 아동학대' 피해자, 스포츠윤리센터에 정식 신고(종합)/Son's father says he will change his practices after being accused of bullying

피해 진술 자료·녹취록·손 감독 발길질 영상 등 제출
스포츠윤리센터, 지난주 사전 조사서 정식 조사로 전환


피해 아동 측이 낸 통화 녹취록에는 또 다른 아동의 아동학대 피해와 인권침해 내용이 담긴 것으로 알려졌다.

구체적으로 손아카데미에서 간담회 참석을 이유로 아이들을 학교에서 조퇴하도록 한 뒤 일부 학부모를 공개적으로 모욕했다는 내용, 코치진이 훈련 중인 아동의 가슴을 여러 차례 때렸다는 내용, 코치진이 발로 찬 공에 맞아 아동의 정강이에 심하게 멍이 든 적이 있다는 내용인 것으로 전해졌다.

또 특정 아동이 가혹한 대우를 당하고 있다거나 멱살을 잡힌 채 폭행당했다는 내용, 피해 아동이 축구공을 들고 벌을 서는 모습을 여러 차례 봤다는 목격담도 포함된 것으로 알려졌다.

피해 아동 측은 경기 중인 선수를 걷어차는 모습이 찍힌 영상도 제출한 것으로 파악됐다.

공이 골라인 밖으로 나간 뒤 넘어진 손아카데미 소속 선수가 양말을 올려 신자 손 감독이 해당 선수에게 달려가다가 발길질한 뒤, 혼내는 듯한 모습이 담긴 영상이다.


피해 아동 측 변호를 맡은 법무법인 중심 류재율 변호사는 "해당 경기는 실제 축구 시합이어서 학부모나 관중들도 많았다"며 "영상으로 미루어보아 평소 외부인이 없는 훈련 시간 등에서 욕설이나 폭행이 잦고, 그 수위가 더 높았을 것으로 보인다"고 말했다.

검찰은 아동복지법상 아동학대 혐의로 고소된 손흥민(토트넘)의 아버지 손웅정 감독과 손흥민의 형 손흥윤 SON축구아카데미 수석코치 등 소속 지도자 3명에 대해 수사 중이다.

Son Heung-min's high reputation in the football world, both in Europe and Asia, has recently been damaged by his father's behaviour at the international player's academy in South Korea. A few days ago it emerged that Son Woong-jung, the Tottenham player's father, had been accused of alleged physical and psychological abuse of the youngsters being trained at the family's school in Chuncheon.

Woong-jung has now explained that he will try to change his working methods in the future to prevent such occurrences from happening. "The SON Football Academy in general and myself in particular have apologised to the victims and have worked to resolve this matter amicably," explained Son Heung-min's father in a statement reported by The Guardian.

"However, we are waiting for the legal resolution of this situation, as many of the facts I am accused of differ from what happened. I can confirm in my defence that none of the actions or words of my coaches were based on anything other than love for our students," Woong-jung added.

"I know that my methods are perhaps a bit old-fashioned and have not adapted to the new times and I will try to find other practices to help the young players to concentrate and put the focus on working," he said.

Although corporal punishment may seem like a taboo from another century, it has been around in South Korea until relatively recently, with Seoul only banning it in schools in 2010 and a similar restriction in the private sphere 11 years later. Today, parents no longer tolerate their children being violently punished by teachers or coaches in schools or academies.

As for Son's father, he has always had a reputation for being tough on the player. The Spurs man himself admitted in an interview that, when he was young, he would plan long four-hour sessions of touches without the ball dropping to improve his technique. Woong-jung tried to impose a similar work mechanic at the family academy and the result was not only not optimal, but ended up with him being sued.
