I have played more than 1,500 matches over 24 years," Federer said. "Tennis has treated me more generously than I ever would have dreamt and now I must recognise when it's time to end my competitive career.
"The Laver Cup next week in London will be my final ATP event. I will play more tennis in the future, of course, but just not in Grand Slams or on the Tour."

이정도로 오랫동안 텐션을 유지하던 테니스 레전드가 또 있었나 싶어요. 그리고 다시 또 있을지도 모르겠군요.
제 기억에는 로저 페더러가 정상급 위치에 오른지 20년은 더 된거 같은데;
아마도 모든 프로스포츠 통틀어 최고의 커리어를 만들고 은퇴한 선수로 남지 싶어요.
