Anna Paquin To Appear in New Movie
NEW YORK (AP) - Anna Paquin was a tongue-tied 11-year-old when she
accepted an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her
performance in The Piano.
Now at 16, the New Zealand native can be seen playing a teen-age
runaway willing to sleep with anybody in exchange for a bed for
the night in Hurlyburly, opening Christmas Day.
"It's a little bit of a stretch," she said of the part in Sunday's
Daily News. "It's so intense, and the characters are so interesting
and their lives are so frightening and screwed up."
Paquin said she wasn't intimidated by working with Sean Penn, Kevin
Spacey and Garry Shandling, even though she said she has never had
acting lessons.
"I don't know what it is that I'm doing, but I'm really enjoying
myself,'' she said. ``And I'm free to do it as much as I want.
Most people don't have careers until they're adults."
